The Woman in Black

I finished reading Susan Hill's "The Woman in Black" today at about 4:15 am. I don't think I'll be able to sleep tonight either. Or ever again for that matter.

I definitely need to change my pants.

It got me, it got me good.

The movie (starring Daniel Radcliffe) hits U.S. theaters this week. I don't think I can watch it.

I'm dying to know (puns rule) what the long-running London play was like, as in how on earth they managed to prevent the audience from tearing out of the theatre, screaming.

For those of you with excess intestinal fortitude, I'd recommend reading it. For the other 99% of people, not so much. I love me some scary stories, but this book was just too much, even for me. Consider yourselves warned, scary moviegoers!

I read that last summer. Holy cow, that was a scary book! I had no idea what I was getting into. I just grabbed it off the shelf at the library. Really good, but seriously nightmare inducing. I had no idea about the play or movie version until I saw the trailer a week or so ago and thought, "wait a minute... that seems awfully familiar." I wondered about the play, too. I can't imagine how they pulled that off.

Ohhh! I saw the play in Mexico years ago, fantastic! Although, pretty scary too! They did it in a fairly small theater (in a bigger one you lose the atmosphere), with only three actors, a young one (the one narrator), the ghost, and an older one who plays everyone else. Almost nothing on stage, they rely mustly on lights and voices, and the fact that the ghost can appear anywhere (even between the seats!). As I said, it doesn't surprise me that it ran for years in England, but not for the faint hearted. I suspect the film will be scarier though.

I would love to find this book. It's a bit spendy on amazon for me right now, unfortunately.
